My new summer straw bag

Wednesday 1 July 2009

Finally I have a new, unique summer bag.
Last year I bought a straw bag when I was on holiday. Then I put it apart; I didn’t like it very much.
This spring I looked at a straw bag decorated with a felt flower and so I had the idea of personalizing my straw bag.
That’s the result!

What about it?

No much money for a lovely bag and it’s only mine: nobody else has a bag as this one!

Seasonal salad: how to save money

Saturday 7 March 2009

Hi. This is the first post with the new template. What do you think about it?

2009 has begun with this serious economic crisis. In Italy too. But we are  confident in the hability of everyone: let’s roll up our sleeves and change our lifestyle! Every crisis let new opportunities be born.
Well. The first step is to save money for different reasons. Have you ever thought to buy only seasonal and local products? In this way we can eat vegetables and fruit with a high nutritive value (more vitamins …), protect environment because  it isn’t necessary to transport them for long distance. It’s dramatic the global warming, in’t it? Besides we save money. In Italy we call this 0 kilometre. There are more and more 0 kilometre markets in the most important cities.

So it is important to change the ingredients of the  salads. In summer we use seasonal green salads mixed with carrots, tomatoes, peppers, basil,  chives … or strawberries, melon … In winter we use seasonal green salads mixed with oranges, pears, pineapple, apples, raisins, walnuts … and all that our fancy suggests. These side dishes are very tasty! One of the most delicious is made with lettuce and orange. Buy organic oranges, wash them and slice them with their peel (we have just read scientific research has discovered orange peel is anti-cholesterol), cut every slice into pieces and mix orange pieces with lettuce. Dress this salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Choose local ingredients and create you own “0 km” green salad or buy seasonal ingredients and spend less!
You can find other recipes here.
