Where to eat at Cervia: Locanda dei Salinari

Cervia on the Adriatic Sea – Italy. Last days of August 2011 and last beach holiday this year.
Carlo and I rented a small apartment for 10 days, our favorite way to spend our holidays. But we are always ready to taste the local cuisine and restaurants. Always!
Yesterday night we began with a typical restaurant. Locanda dei Salinari in Via XX Settembre 67 – Cervia tel 0544 971133.
The restaurant with small tastefully appointed rooms is located within the eighteenth-century walls that once were the houses of the salt workers. Hence the name.
We were affected not only by the cuisine but also by the service and attention to customers.
Right knives depending on the dish. Fish knife for fish and meat knife for the meat.
Right presentation of crustaceans, without having to dirty the hands or try the many efforts to free the tail of the shrimp from their shells … You know? bibs and wipes will also be nice but …
Let’s talk about the menu.
The cuisine is creative but also respects the traditions. Among the basic ingredients fish and game. Shrimp, squid, sea bass, bonito … with a nice mix of noble and poor fish. Pheasant, duck, hare … among the examples of game.
Game and hunting dogs in the portraits hang on the walls. Note also this particular.
Quality of food? very good. Simplicity is often very successful. For example a delicious shrimp served on a bed of tomato sauce. Excellent! When there are top-quality and fresh ingredients you do not need tricks in the kitchen. Only good technique!
Keep in mind that this restaurant uses some Slow Food product. The salt of Cervia, Raviggiolo, Parmesan made with the milk white cows of Modena, the meat Mora of Romagna. All combined in a wise manner.
Greetings from Italy
Carlo & Loretta
