Where to eat in Bologna: Papa Re restaurant

On the second night in Bologna we decided to go back to a restaurant we knew a couple of years ago.
Every time we return to Bologna we can’t help going back to Papa Re. Do you know what is soul-satisfying food? that’s the food you can eat at the restaurant Papa Re.

And now we tell you about our very satisfying menu!

Starter – Peas soup with prawns and herbs oil
Main dish – Breast of duck with small apple strudel and red cabbage
Dessert – Lavender bavarian cake with chestnut honey sauce

Carlo preferred a different meat course: loin of suckling pig stuffed with sausage in a potatoes sauce. Then we tasted both the meat courses. Why? they were so inviting … we weren’t able to decide

Two glasses of wine. The first wine? white, Chardonnay, to match the prawn-and-pea soup. The second wine was red, Sangiovese (typical wine of Emilia) to match the meat course.

Excellent food. Creative cuisine that comes from tradition but reinterpreted in a very special and tasty way. And then good-quality ingredients, precious for the best results.
How can we say it? it’s very simple: everything depends on how you can sleep. We slept very well without any problem!

The atmosphere is elegant, the service is very attentive to the customer. Some details to explain.
For example, if the basket of bread is half full, the waiter replaces it immediately. The fish is served with proper cutlery. The dirty dishes are removed immediately … in short, a lot of customer care that invites you to come back.
In fact it is the third time for us and our “arrivederci” to the owner was: see you in September!
In September there is SANA, an indispensable appointment for us that love organic and natural products.

To finish. A menu like that, top quality ingredients and attentive service … do not expect too low prices :-)
